Frieze Week

For those of you who have never heard about it. Frieze week is an annual event that takes place within London's art world and has been doing so for 13 years. The main event during this week is the massive art fair (one of the biggest of it's kind) it tends to draw attention to some of the biggest international collectors. With this amount  of excitement and interest the art world goes into a frenzy and a few other fairs pop up across the city. Most galleries will be putting on a show with their leading or signature artists, so basically it's London Fashion Week but for art.

Frieze London is all about the hottest art being made today and every year we are all given the chance see over 150 galleries and 1000 artists set up in Regent's Park (which is perfect for me as it's right by my office). I'm also really keen to also visit the African Art 1:54 fair at Somerset House.

"A reference to fifty-four countries that constitute the African continent, the title of 1:54 establishes the parameters of the fair's ethos: as a platform that strives to represent multiplicity and showcase the diversity of contemporary African art and cultural production on an international stage." - 1:54
Selected artists include Jebila Okongwu, Ransome Stanley, Johnson Zuze and a personal favourite, Ablade Glover.

Other fairs include PAD (Berkeley Square) which I would really recommend if you're a big modern art, photography or design fan. Meanwhile, Sluice (Bargehouse, Oxo Tower) and the Sunday Art Fair are free to get into and have a modern art fair feel.

Tickets are £34pp for Frieze London and £50pp if you want to go to Frieze Masters, which I realise is a little pricey. However, you can check out the free sculptures and art shows by using this free Art Fund app.

Frieze week kicked off on the 12th, but Frieze London runs from the 14th to the 17th October and Frieze Masters, 14th - 18th October. If you managed to go let me know what you think and follow me on Instagram as I'll be posting a few things too!
